CLEAN SLATE
Halogen has been appointed by Cupa Group, the world's largest natural slate company, to provide public affairs and public relations expertise across Scotland. Cupa, who are based in Spain, employs over 1700 people and has an annual turnover of 260 million Euros.
GOING GREEN
Halogen is taking steps to minimise our impact on the environment. Measures include: 90% of waste paper is recycled along with plastic cups, plastic bottles, cans and cardboard. Our lighting is powered by low energy bulbs, public transport is being utilised wherever possible, and all non-essential electronic equipment is completely switched off when not in use. Iain McMenemy, Director of Corporate Communications, said, "We have introduced a few basic procedures to minimise our impact and carbon footprint, with our next challenge to introduce a carbon offsetting scheme. It's a small step but a step in the right direction."
BANKING ON SUCCESS
Halogen has been appointed by the British Bankers' Association (BBA) to provide public affairs support in Scotland. BBA is the leading trade association in the UK financial services industry with 225 member banks, from 60 countries, contributing £50bn to the economy and making up the world's largest international banking centre.
REAL DEAL
Scott Schuetter Real Estate Group has appointed Halogen to provide public relations advice and support. The property company, which is based in Annapolis, Maryland is part of the Champion Real Estate network.
WATER FEATURE
Halogen has been chosen by Veolia, the largest water company in the world, to provide public relations and public affairs services. Veolia employs over 350,000 people across the globe and works principally in water, environmental, waste and transport sectors.
SCOTWEB
Halogen has won the Scotweb account, after a pitch. Scotweb is the world's leading online retailer of kilts and Scottish heritage products and is based in Edinburgh.
STEVENSON COLLEGE EDINBURGH
Halogen has won the account to provide public relations services to Stevenson College Edinburgh. One of our first tasks was to promote the launch the College's Music Box initiative, the largest and most advanced recording studio out with BBC Scotland's studios in Glasgow, for which we achieved national media coverage.
HIGH FIVE
Halogen recently celebrated a landmark anniversary with their 5th Birthday bash at the Jam House, with staff, clients and other guests partying into the wee small hours at the Edinburgh venue.
COMMISSION MISSION
The Rt Hon Henry McLeish has been appointed by First Minister Alex Salmond on to two new Government commissions. Henry has been appointed as a member of the Broadcasting Commission, established to look into the current state of broadcasting in Scotland and make recommendations for future action. In addition, Henry has been appointed as Chairman of the Prisons Commission. This group will look into the purpose and impact of prison in contemporary Scotland.
NEWBATTLE WIN
Halogen has been awarded the contract to provide public relations and public affairs support for Newbattle Abbey College, based in Dalkeith, Midlothian.
WASTE NOT WANT NOT
Halogen has been chosen to provide strategic advice and public relations support to waste management company Viridor. This adds to a growing list of companies and organisations from the environmental and energy sector who have chosen Halogen to provide them key services and advice.
MURRAY MAKES MOVE
Catriona Murray has joined the growing Halogen team as Public Relations Manager. Catriona moves from her job as Communications Manager at the Museums of Scotland having previously worked with Foster's Lager in Australia.
ARLINGTON INSTITUTE
Halogen has been selected to provide public relations support to The Arlington Institute, based in Arlington, Virginia. The Arlington Institute is a non-profit futurist 'think-tank' which provides sustainable solutions to organisations around the globe.
CAREERS SCOTLAND
Halogen Communications is an active supporter of the Careers Scotland programme to encourage and support young people by providing useful work experience for secondary school pupils in a busy operating office environment. In addition to this, Halogen Directors recently assisted a Scottish primary school establish their own PR group. Believed to be the first in Scotland at primary level, the Tartan Pig, (Pig - Positive Image Group) at Bannockburn Primary advertise for vacancies and hold their own interviews from amongst the pupil base. The Tartan PIG group contributes articles for the school in house newsletter and for Stirling's local newspapers. In recognition of their efforts, Halogen was shortlisted for a Careers Scotland Award.
STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP
Halogen has formed a strategic partnership with London based Sancroft. Based in Queen Anne's Gate London, the firm has been providing blue chip clients with corporate responsibility advice since 1997. The strategic partnership means that clients from both companies can have access to advice and support right throughout the UK and beyond.
GOOD CHEMISTRY
Halogen Communications has been engaged by internationally renowned chemicals specialist Johnson Matthey.

Halogen is growing, with the addition of three new members to our team.

Andrea Conway is an experienced PR professional, who takes up an Account Manager position within the team, having previously worked for Redeem plc and TMP Worldwide in Canada.
